Olympic Games Paris 2024 Scams
Like any popular event or topic, we will soon see an uprise of Olympic scams. These scams can be in all different forms like emails, messages, and texts.
Some scams that have been used in prior Olympics are fake tickets, fake Olympic websites, and personal data being stolen. Be on high alert leading up to and during the Olympics! If you get an email claiming to have tickets to the Olympics at a cheap price, it is probably a scam. You may get an email with a link to an awesome video of one of the Olympic events, this could also be a scam. If you are traveling to the Olympic games, make sure to not use the public WIFI since cybercriminals can steal your personal data that way. Cybercriminals can create many different versions of these scams so be cautious about anything you receive or see on the Olympics, and verify it's from a trusted source.
TIPS:
- Only buy tickets from trusted sources and not through an email.
- Make sure to not use public wifi since it can be easily hacked.
- Never click on a link or open an attachment from an unexpected email, message or text. Also if wording in a message makes a deal sound too good to be true, it probably is a scam!
