Microsoft Forms Scams

Cybercriminals love to create phishing scams to try to steal your login information. In the latest scam, cybercriminals are trying to get you to log into your Microsoft 365 or Adobe account by tricking you by using Microsoft Forms. Microsoft Forms is a great tool that allows users to create many different documents like quizzes and surveys. Cybercriminals also are finding the appeal in this tool and are using it to create fake forms. These fake forms are made to look legit because they use Microsoft icons and convincing verbiage.

There are many variations of this scam. Some cybercriminals will use wording saying there is a problem with your account, and you need to login and change your password. Others might attach documents and say these are sensitive documents that need to be looked at ASAP. All these variations will have urgent wording and will have a malicious link included. If the receiver clicks on the link, they will be taken to a fake login page. As soon as they login they are handing over their credentials to the cybercriminals.

TIPS:

  • Always think before you click! Hover over links to see where the URL is really going.
  • Make sure to report phishing emails to your IT team.
  • Be cautious when it comes to an unexpected email and urgent wording. Cybercriminals want you to get frazzled and perform an action quickly without thinking.
