Bank Phishing Scam

Are you getting an urgent email from your bank? Cybercriminals are sending out phishing emails impersonating all different types of banks. The cybercriminals make the emails look legitimate by using the bank’s logos and branding. In this particular phishing scam, they want you to click on the link and download the attachment.

The cybercriminals have crafted this scam to make you feel like you need to perform the action of clicking on the link or downloading the image urgently. Once the link is clicked it opens an image and if you click that image, you really are downloading malware to your device. Malware allows the cybercriminals to steal personal information, collect data like keystrokes, access banking information and allows them to impersonate you by using your computer.

TIPS:

• Don’t click on a link or download an attachment from an unexpected email.
• When an email is making you feel like you need to perform an action urgently, it is probably a scam.
• Whenever you get a banking email that is unexpected and wants you to perform an action, double check by logging into your banking app or reaching out to your bank directly.
• Always make sure to keep your devices up to date to protect them from malware.
