Prime Phishing Scam
Cybercriminals are targeting Amazon Prime Members into tricking them into sharing their credit card and other sensitive information with them.
Amazon is used by thousands every day! Many of these shoppers have Prime memberships and cybercriminals know this. Since people are using this service daily, cybercriminals crafted their latest scam to trick Prime members.
In this phishing scam, cybercriminals send out an email claiming that your Prime membership is about to expire and you need to act now to make sure it doesn’t. This scam includes a link that takes the person to a fake Amazon login page. This login page asks for more sensitive data like credit card information and your home address. Cybercriminals will steal all information that you have entered!
TIPS:
- Always go to the source and check your app to see if you have any notifications about your membership expiring instead of clicking on a link in an email.
- Never click on links or open attachments from unexpected emails.
- Phishing scams use wording to make you feel like you have to take action urgently.
