PayPal Phishing Scams

Just like other popular payment platforms, PayPal has now been the latest subject of phishing scams. Cybercriminals have crafted emails claiming that a PayPal payment has not gone through, and they need your action immediately. The email includes a phone number that is claiming to be PayPal’s and once you call it the cybercriminals are going to try to be super convincing to get you to hand over your sensitive data like payment information.

Tips:

 -Remember this can happen to any company, it doesn’t just have to be PayPal. Make sure you are looking for red flags in emails.

-Always think before you click on a link, open an attachment, or call a phone number from an email. Go to the actual website through a browser and call customer service to see if there is a legit problem with your account.

-Think about if you just tried to process a PayPal transaction. If you haven’t it is probably a scam and make sure you reach out to customer service through the website not the email.

-Cybercriminals try to be convincing and make you feel a sense of urgency. They want to get you to react impulsively. Always take a second to think before performing actions!
