Covid-19 Phishing Scams

They have mastered many different types of emails including free testing emails, you have come in contact with someone with Covid-19 emails, and you have violated health protocol emails, to trick people. Scammers are smart and know people are catching on to their emails, so they have taken it one step further now creating emails claiming to have information on the well sought out Covid-19 vaccine.

These phishing emails claim to be an “URGENT LETTER” with new information about the Covid-19 vaccine. They prompt you to download the attachment to view the letter. They even have the attachment named “Download_Covid 19 New approved vaccines.” This attachment is actually malicious software that will capture your data and sensitive information. Since Covid-19 and its vaccines are a hot topic right now, people are falling for the scam.

Remember:

1. Be on the lookout for words like “URGENT”. The scammers' whole game is to make you freak out and click on the attachment they have provided.
2. Do not put your trust in emails. If there was really an approved vaccine and information about it, it would be all over trusted websites such as the CDC’s, the news, and the government's.
3. Never download an attachment or click on a link from an unexpected email.
4. Take your time when reading emails & think twice.
